Ceramic artist, Banri Yoshioka has been producing vigorous multicolored overglaze painted UTSUWAs, while he also make KOHIKI glazed, brush lined, steel glazed UTSUWAs

In this exhibition, we are going to display Ceramics, oil paintings and watercolor paintings from the series of “Karlos-kun”, which has been arousing people’s interests. And also plates, pots, mugs and vases are exhibited together. With this exhibition, you will find the bright and fun world of Banri’s charming ceramics.

The theme of “Carlos-kun” is, “Live with soil. Keep it up, Japanese agriculture”.
Carlos-kun is a farmar who has huge nice and charming mustache and find motivation in cultivation soil and making people happy when they eat.
Funny and a little bit lonely, but finally he encourage people. We put respect to people who support foods and live in agriculture, and the message of how important to be conscious about food, into “Carlos-kun”.

In this exhibition, we are going to show the artst’s early works of multicolored overglaze paintings in 1980s to brand new works, selected by artist himself.

Bakurocho Band

A trio band of guitar, bass and percussion formed in October 2007. Fresh, but sweet old sound for every ear. Just like a wind or sea… This is the latest style of folk music, JAPANESE SOUL MUSIC!

Takahashi, Naoko

Born in Iwate prefecture.
Learned Kanatsu-Ryu Yanagawa Shishi-Mai (Drumming dance with deer mask. Certified as intangible folklore cultural asset of Iwate Prefecture) and performed at many performing-arts festial in Japan.
Later become a trainee of Japanese Drum Group “KODO” to explore the possibility of expression as a woman.
Now living in Sado. Learning traditional crafts and making music based on Japanese traditional scales.
Also a member of the band “eno” which is consisted with Japanese drums, African, Didjeridu and voice. Energetically acting mainly in Tokyo.
